About Forkee
Forkee started because my wife and I had recipes scattered everywhere - WhatsApp forwards, browser bookmarks, Notion pages, Google Keep notes, screenshots from Instagram. Every time we wanted to cook something, it was a scavenger hunt.
I looked for a recipe manager that could handle this chaos. Most tools wanted me to manually type recipes into rigid forms, or they'd only import from websites with perfect structured data. None of them worked on both my Android phone and my wife's iPhone. And the self-hosted options required so much setup that it felt like a weekend project just to save a recipe.
So I built Forkee - the recipe manager I wish existed.
The Philosophy
Recipes are written by humans, for humans. They're not database entries. A recipe might say "2 tablespoons of flour, plus a little more for dusting" or "cook until golden" or "season to taste." These aren't problems to be fixed, rather this is how real cooking works.
Forkee uses AI to organize recipes, but it is honest about uncertainty. If the AI isn't sure about something (was that "1-2 cloves" or "12 cloves"?), it tells you. It automatically corrects minor mistakes, repetitions, spelling mistakes and so-on but it tries to keep the human element in the recipe.
